Dear J/88 Owners,

On behalf of the Chicago Yacht Club, I cordially invite you to participate in the 2022 J/88 North American Championship scheduled for September 21-25, 2022 at Chicago Yacht Club’s Monroe Station, nestled in the middle of Chicago’s spectacular lakefront.  This will be a “can’t miss” event. 

First and foremost, we expect to provide all participants with an epic racing experience.  We are planning for 35 J/88s on the line, all of which will enjoy Chicago Yacht Club’s top-quality race management in one of the most picturesque sailing venues on Earth.  Chicago sailing weather in late September is superb, with some of the best breeze of the sailing season!

We have worked to make the logistics associated with the event smooth and hassle free.  Our Belmont Harbor facility provides owners with the ability to launch and haul a J/88 with a five-ton single point lift crane.  All participants will enjoy complimentary dockage at the race venue in downtown Chicago.  

Finally, we are planning an unforgettable social calendar.  As part of the regatta entry fee, skippers and crews will receive complimentary admission to events on three different events – our opening ceremonies (complete with an Irish bagpipe band), a festive dock party featuring “Libido Funk Circus” – the Midwest’s top regatta band, and a semi-formal regatta banquet scheduled for the Saturday of the regatta.

The Chicago Yacht Club hosts over 125 races per year.

The Chicago Yacht Club Race Committee consists of over 100 dedicated volunteers, both CYC members and non-members. The Club is proud to have over 25 U.S. Sailing certified race officers in its ranks, and most other volunteers have participated in race management seminars and training programs.

The Chicago Yacht Club Race Committee facilitates a fair, quality, and competitive racing program. Race Committee volunteers love being on the water and are interested in learning more about race management.

The Chicago Yacht Club hosts over 125 races during our season, including the Race to Mackinac, Sailing World’s Chicago NOOD Regatta, the Chicago Yacht Club’s Verve Cup Regattas, and the Chicago Regatta. Other events include the NACC for Disabled Sailors, One-Design Seasonal Championship Racing (Nationals or otherwise), the Commodore’s Cup, Sheldon Clark, Wednesday Night Racing at both Monroe and Belmont Stations, and "Frostbiting" in the spring and fall.
